Today we started from Alpine Heath Resort through the drakensberg towards Ladybrand.
The Golden Gate
Townhall in Ladybrand with the typical Sandstone of this area.
… and later to a nice waterfall.
On the way back we saw some baboons lying lazily on the street.
Afterwards our local guide invited us to visit a local primary school. Were we were received very friendly.
In the afternoon we had some free time. This we used to do some private hiking in the hills near our chalet.
During the Safari we mainly saw different groups of Hippos.
In Zulu Land we went to Simunye Zulu Lodge deep down in a beautiful valley,
where we had an introduction to zulu culture.
Later we had a “candle light dinner” because a lightning storm had killed all electricity.
This time we did see some Rhinos real, and I mean like REAL, close. You could nearly touch them as they walk over the road in front of the car.
Besides that we did see some Zebras and some Giraffes.
Sadly, we weren’t able to add a leopard to our final count of the big five.
In the late afternoon we did a nice walk along the beach of St Lucia. But the water was too dirty and there are to many sharks in it for a swim.
