South Africa – Day 20

South Africa – Day 20

Today was our final day. Since we had to leave our hotel at around noon for the airport we decided to go for the castle of good hope and town hall today since they are pretty close to our hotel (about 20min by foot).

South Africa – Day 19

Today we took one of the hop on hop off busses to kirstenbosch botanical gardens and later back by the most famous beaches.

Kirstenbosch

These beaches are world famous and several movies have been recorded here. But what’s that? You can’t swim in the ocean here because it only has 9-10°C because of arctic streams. What are these beaches good for then?

In the evening we did a sunset tour to signal hill for a beautiful atlantic ocean sunset and a nice view on the city at night…

South Africa – Day 16

South Africa – Day 16

Today we did a tour around Cape Town.

We started at Company Gardens in the heart of the city. From there we had a good view on table mountain which sadly had its tablecloth on top.

Afterwards we went to the District 6 – Apartheid museum …

… and to the former malaisian residential area.

When finally the tablecloth was gone from table mountain we tested our luck…

… and were lucky.

Later we went to Robben Island were Mandela was imprisoned during apartheid…

… and had a tour by a former inmate, which was the more interesting since today is the day south africans celebrate the end of apartheid.
