Today we started from the camp in Krüger National Park down south towards Swaziland.

On our way out we saw our first rhino…

At the border to Swaziland we had a nice introduction to Swazi culture.

South Africa – Day 3

South Africa – Day 3

Today we had to get up even earlier than before because our first safari started at 6:30. From the terrace were we collected our breakfast to go we could already watch some hippos and a crocodile in the river near by during a beautiful sunrise.

Out through the main gate of the camp it did’t take long before we saw our first kudu…

… a lot of spiders …

… and a hawk.

Again some hippos (#2 on our Big Five list…)

These little ones you can see everywhere. Impalas are he most common mammals in the park. Some of the rangers call them Mc Donald’s because they are fast – food for lions and other hunters.

Apes on the street, some getting really close to our car

Elephants, also real close to the car.

Giraffes

And finally after searching for some time – Lions. Pretty distant but clearly visible.

We did see a lot of other animals during our 8 hour safari, which was really interesting. We later had a sunset safari which sadly wasn’t that successful… Just a beautiful sunset in the bushes.

As the internet connection in the bushes is very bad if even available more post will follow as soon as we have a proper connection…
